Meet your current PGRSA President Dr. Chris Gunter. Chris is an associate professor and Extension Vegetable Production Specialist in the Department of Horticultural Science at N.C. State. He has been an active board member of PGRSA since 2014, previously serving as Secretary and First Vice President. His research and extension program focuses on the commercial vegetable industry in North Carolina, working with vegetable growers to maintain a high quality of life through the use of integrated, economical and environmentally sound production practices. Since joining N.C. State in 2007, he has focused on actively working with these growers to solve production problems through informal field visits, formal field days and the production of research and Extension publications related to crop production. Chris is the Pi Alpha Xi graduate student honor society) co-advisor and an advisory board member of the NC Greenhouse Vegetable Growers Association, the NC Vegetable Growers Association and the NC Tomato Growers Association. Chris received a bachelor of science in horticulture science from Purdue University and master of science and doctorate degrees in horticulture from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
